Default Why would my child's father prank call me?

I have been wondering for 2 years why the father of my child has been calling me and upon picking up, says nothing. Two years ago, I went to the police with my 6 year old to report an assault that she told me her father had done to her. It was involved, with ropes and being strung up so that only the top of her head was touching the ground. The police found conflicting evidence and did not pursue charges. We have not heard from him since however, irregularly and sometimes frequently (every week) I get an unknown caller that does not say anything when I answer, in fact I cannot ever hear any background noice either, it is mute. if I leave the connection open, the caller never hangs up. A male friend suggested the other day that he might be keeping some kind of log to say (in the event of a custody battle) that he has been contacting our child and that they have been communicating. What do you think? Does anyone have any other ideas to offer? Why would this behaviour be persisting over 2 years?

Maybe he is hoping your child answers? Sorry that's the only thing I can think of. Can you call you phone provider and get the number blocked?

If its an unknown caller who never says anything, how do you know it's him?

Weird. I'd report the prank calls to your provider so there is evidence you did so, then change my number to an unlisted one.

I don't think a 'log' like that would work at all... the child is not a toddler and is well able to say if they have spoken to their father..

I don't even know why you'd ask that question here instead of having it investigated by the police especially if it's been going on as long as you say.

If this happened to me I would have changed my number two years ago when it started!

I agree with PP that you don't know if it is your child's father, it could be anyone!

    Sorry I'm not any help.

Thank you all. I have tried to have the number investigated but it must reach certain frequency and regularity criterion before action will be taken, which the caller is possibly aware of. And I don't know it his him but I have ruled the other stalkers out (joke), it is an educated guess, the calls began after the assault and have persisted for two years. Never mind, thank you all for your thoughts, I really appreciate people spending time considering my problem!!!
