Thanks everyone for your replies! Yes, I know I need to get my skates on, having a bit more word of mouth will be helpful in making my decision.

Re. Dr Foote - a colleague of my husband is a nurse & in Canberra & she warned us off him. Didn't say why to my hubby at the time on the phone.

Given that you're moving to Canberra, hopefully someone will be able to fit you in. When I first called my Ob in the November (a few years before I was pregnant - it was for another issue), and asked for an appointment for the following January, the receptionist was confused and thought I was due in January, and before I corrected her it seemed like they would have made room for me.

    Default Obstetrician in Canberra?

I delivered at Calvary Bruce under Dr Tam 9 weeks ago, and the midwives there told me the only OBs who deliver there now are Tam, Foote, Ahuja, as ORouke is leaving to only work at John James.

I had the most amazing experience at Calvary in Bruce and would recommend it a thousand times over! The midwives were all amazing, the accommodation and birth suite comfortable. The ward was nearly empty most nights and one night I was the only mum there which meant heaps of attention from the lovely MW!

We were happy with dr Tam but I had a very straight forward pregnancy.
I think his office (shared with Ahuja and Foote) is one of the only in Canberra you can get into at late notice though- possibly due to Footes bad rep. I chose Dr Tam at 4 weeks preg, but I know others came to him
midway through their pregnancies when Hehir had to retire due to illness late last year (90% sure it was Hehir.)

If you have any queries relating to Dr Tam you are more than welcome to PM me

Oh CottonCandy I was only wondering the other day if you went with Dr Tam or not. Glad you had a good experience with him!

Dr O'Rouke delivered my baby girl in 2011 and he will be my OB for my next baby due in November. I was really happy with the way he handled my emergency C section. Though one thing to note is that he now only delivers at John James which I don't mind but might be an issue for others.

We had omar gailani and he was great Always had the time to answer all our silly questions and listened to the way we wanted our babies to be born. Even took crazy frantic call when we thought we lost our baby when I noticed some spotty bleeding in the beginning of my pregnancy.

Any feedback on Steve Robson at John James? He was our first fertility specialist and I really liked him on a personal level.
