Both my kids were extended rear facing in a Meridian AHR and it was great and the seat was roomy so it didn't bother them.

Personally i got that seat because of the AHR in it, means it's safer in a side collision but any seat rear facing is 100% safer

The infasecure brand have one that rear faces to 15kg it's a convertible carseat called the neon it like the rest are height based but will suit until 15kg if the child doesn't reach the height markers prior to that weight

What are the height markers for the seats when rear-facing?

I'm just trying to picture DD - who has not long hit 12kgs - in a rear facing seat.

All the new seats have them they are silver markers on the side of the seat, once the child's shoulder is level with the marker ( or above it) it's time to turn them, there is a second marker higher up that indicates the child has outgrown the seat once their shoulder is on or above the marker

There's not an actual height, every child grows differently some will be longer in the torso so will reach the marker sooner than a child with longer legs and a shorter torso but the same height if that makes sense. This seat is supposed to suit for longer I have not seen it in person but I doubt my 16 month old would be below the marker but he is 90cm already we haven't found a single seat that he is below the marker on
