    Default Just wondering...

My DH really loves the name Aiden for a little boy (after one of his friends that died in a car accident when he was younger)- only thing is we were going through potential nicknames that he may get called... "Aids" was the first one that came to mind. My SIL has a friend called Aiden and I got her to ask him if he ever got bullied because of his name. He said that he didnt really- except one of his mates would call him "HIV" sometimes... I really like the name but probably prefer it spelt Ayden- but am not sure about the bullying... Opinions?? TIA

A friend of mine has a son called Ayden and he always gets 'Aids" but when you say it you dont really think of HIV instantly. Its a popular name so it cant be that bad...surely?

children are cruel, regardless of what you call him there will always be some child that will want to pay him out. The best thing you can do is go with you gut. If you like a name and think its right well then damn what everyone else thinks

My parents called me Pia based on the thought that there were no possible nicknames for it.

    I have been called;

    Pee
    Peewa
    Peewee
    Peepee
    Peaze
    Punit
    Pdog
    Pdizzle
And finally the one a huge (and I mean FAT) bully used to call me ;-
    Pee on a plate.

It's Going to happen if people want to find it.

If you like Aiden, go for it

The best man at our wedding is "Adin" and you could always shorten it to ad, (like the nn for Adrian) and as a pp said kids will find anything to be mean about.

I have a friend called Aiden and never thought to call him Aids. He usually gets Aid or AJ as his middle name starts with J..

I have a mate who's name is Aiden and he gets Aido a lot. I tend to think that if kids want to find a variation of their name to pick on then they will.
I think it would mean a lot to your DH if you agreed to it aswell.

    I love aiden

We don't know an aiden but know a couple of Adrian's and they are both called Age for a nickname. Don't know where it came from but don't recall either ever being called aids..

I think you should use it simply because it has so much meaning to your hubby. Our son has DHs best friends name as a middle name (he passed away when I was 12 weeks pregnant) and it still makes me proud when I hear it said or say it.
