Default How to become a Fitness Instructoror group fitness instructor - levels of qualificati

I want a new career. My main passion is fitness. I would like to maybe try to get into the fitness industry and dont know where to start. I have a degree already as a health professional - but want something on the side so to speak.

    I'm finding the qualifications confusing.
I also dont know if i'd be good at it in the end but want to give it my best shot?
I used to be a gym junky but stuck to pump and cycling classes (and ran for hours on the tready) I am interested in motivating people to exercise and teach them how.

I'm in Melb.... Where do I start?

You can look up any number of study from home or study on campus fitness courses. You'd want the cert 3 in fitness as that gives you the ability to teach in a gym type environment, and cert 4 if you want to be a private personal trainer either in a gym or freelance.

Just be careful, when I started looking into it I got harassed regularly by the groups to sign up with them for my studies even after I'd found the group I wanted and started their course. But there's a few campuses in Melbourne that you can study it at through different companies. Most of the Melbourne ones are accredited.

Cert iii allows you to run group sessions & if you go on to cert iv you can work as a PT while you're studying.

There is a mob that have govt support so you don't need to fund the course upfront if you're in VIC. Can't remember their name but they are one of the top google results. Fernwood has a learning division which is quite competitive price wise & is good in that you don't need to find somewhere yourself to do your practical hours. You may even get a job there at the end of your cert - who knows hey?

    Good luck!!
