Default 21 month old constantly waking at 2am

My beautiful DS seems to be constantly waking at 2am and with the new bub coming along in a couple of weeks and the things we have been trying doesn't seem to be working so we are looking for other options.

The things we have tried have been:

-DH going and sleeping in his bed until he has gone to sleep. But a few hours later after DH has left and come back to our bed DS wakes up.

-Bringing DS into our bed where he does sleep, but we don't want to co-sleep (we don't have a problem with it, it's just not for us.

-we have shushed and patted but DS just sits up and refuses to lie down.

We are not control criers and really don't like the idea of it (although each to their own). I would really love to hear some suggestions that we could try.

    Thanks in advance.

Default 21 month old constantly waking at 2am

Hi. My 18 month old has just started doing the same thing and we tried all the things you mentioned with no luck. I also have a newborn so maybe we are just adjusting to that still but what I have tried the last few days is waking DD1 from her nap after 2 hours. She slept through till 5:45 last night which was a big improvement on 2:30 am!!

Would love to hear other suggestions too

Thanks for the reply. My DS is currently having two hour naps during the day so maybe I might need to cut it back an hour or half an hour.

my dd woke at 3am every night until she was 3. ds is now 2 and wakes at 2.30am every night too.. no matter what we tried, it was the same every night. i found that if i went into the room (with minimal light) and gave him/her a bottle they would fall asleep when their tummies are full.

I'd e saying two year old molars or growth spurt. I've always got my boys up if they wake and sat on the couch quietly with them (still do if they wake at 4 and nearly 3). Offer a warm milk in case their hungry, give them cuddles and say its time to go back to sleep.
If they wouldn't go down after 3 or 4 attempts id offer pain relief assuming it was molars and that always did the trick.
I would try not to worry about it too much and hope its just a phase.
