Default Tell me about the new Women's Hospital, Melbourne, how was it?

I'm looking into this for a friend that is O/S at the moment, and found at that she is pregnant, she is in the area, and wanted to know how other birth experiences were. I'm not sure and couldn't make a recommendation.

    Any advice would be great.

I had DS there 2.5 years ago, and will be birthing there again in December. I was really happy with my care with DS's birth, waits weren't too long, emergency department is usually quick and efficient (during the day- nighttime is another story!) They were extremely encouraging of natural birth and always made clear that nothing would happen without my consent. Birthing suites were wonderful, spacious and new with everything you might need- fitball, shower, bath (you can't have a waterbirth there though unfortunately) etc. Post natal wards were ok, food was awful and while the middies were all lovely, they were clearly very busy.

This time around, they seem a lot busier, I didn't get my first appointment till nearly 20 weeks, it's been a 5 week wait to see a physio and I've had to wait st least 30-45 minutes each time. I'm a bit less impressed tbh, I am also vbac-ing so we shall see if they are as accepting of my wishes as they were with DS.

Tell your friend if she does go to the women's to ask about Cosmos which is their 1-on-1 midwifery care program. I missed out both pregnancies as they don't take everyone, it's first in best dressed.
