Hmmm... Maybe I should have one, do you just ask your doc for one?

When I went to the gp to get my referral to the FC, I had bloods done. Think they included a thyroid function, rubella antibodies, vitamin D and iron.

If you go to your gp and say you're TTC they should know what to get your blood tested for

Anything more specific (ovarian reserve etc) needs to be done through a gyno or FS I think.

I see a wonderful GP and I was totally clueless about pregnancy so went for a general chat and asked "what do I need to do apart from the obvious"? and she ran a whole raft of tests (5 vials of blood)... it just comes up with anything really obvious and that's important for your general health.. rather than pregnancy specific stuff, which is only done if you're not pregnant within the first 12 months.

I am very happy that I did the tests so thought to pass on my story/experience as who knows what would have happened to my health and thyroid had I not done it.

Same here except I'm 31! And won't have a baby before my 32nd birthday. It's been almost 12mths TTC #1. If we get successful we would probably just not go back on the pill and see what happens... Have to worry about no. 1 first!!

I'm sorry AF arrived Lil Smurfy, I hope spring is much kinder to you
Thanks for the advice embee80, I hadn't worried about a pre-conception check-up but it sounds well worth doing, might try to get in later this week.

My other half would be happy with one but I'd like two, who will be the winner...
I had always wanted to be done by 30 but hadn't met the right guy til now so am just getting started at 33.
Am at cd7 today, almost time to get busy

What I think sucks is 'people with babies' as I call them. They making TTC and AF showing up so hard!!
DH is away with work atm, hope thurs then we need to get jiggy with it through to we'd next week. Hopefully that will help to become 'ppl with babies'
    :-)

Never thought TTC would be so hard. I cry everytime I get AF and every month we don't conceive I wonder if I'll ever be able to naturally

It's hard isn't it! I just went to a Chinese herbalist yesterday, thought I would try a more natural approach to help with our troubles falling. He said its all about blood flow, my circulation is bad so my blood isn't providing enough nutrients to support a pregnancy, yet, fingers crossed his herbs work!
How long have you been TTC?
I cry too when AF show up, then a just have a little wine & sushi (cause I know I'll miss it!) and try to think positive!
