I had someone in my backyard about 6 months ago (I have moved since then and havent had any problems since) so I know what this feels like! Luckily I have a German Shepherd that secretly is my big baby boy but he is very protective of me and especially since it's only him and I in my house. We were inside and I couldnt figure out why he was pacing around the place so I let him out the back and I couldnt believe the noise when the 'intruder' figured out he had company . There was a crash and a bang as he jumped the fence and of course my boy was making quite a bit of noise himself. I did that 'sneaky tip-toe hiding in the shadows' walk while I figured out how it was all gonna work out but thankfully whoever was in the yard didn't stick around. I trust my boy with my life. He wouldn't hurt a fly unless of course someone was seriously trying to hurt me......If I didn't have him I'm not to sure how I would react to something like this though and especially considering I live alone!!

Default Are you a go into battle or hide under the doona person?

I'm a hide under the doona while ascertaining the lie of the land and then attack type person.

I'd rather sus things out as much as I can before going nuts.

My natural reaction is going nuts though.

Hopefully the dogs would take care of anyone that came into the yard. If they didn't, I'd call 000 and lie in wait, armed.
I have plenty on weapons in the house.

I always thought I would be a go into battle type of person..

One night i woke up to someone at my bedroom door (outside.. We had a sliding door to patio) and my dog went nuts trying to get outside.. I sunk down in my bed and started crying and called DP to come home from work.

I'd like to think I'd head out fired up but I think I'd be under the doona with DD and my phone. Thankfully our dog dislikes strangers so he'd definitely let me know if someone was there.

Under the doona! Or more likely, DD and me locking ourselves in the toilet with the kitchen knives calling 000!

Must've been scary for you...glad it all turned out ok.

I'd make sure the place was locked up, then turn on all the outside lights and yell out that I've called the police and to pi$$ the eff off! If he started hurting my dogs I'd be out there swinging with the cattle prod!!!

We've had people turning up at all hours in the past, most of the time they're lost, but some of them I've had a weird vibe from. Because dp works away I try to give the impression that starting anything here would be more trouble than it's worth.

I'd be hiding under the doona I reckon! How scary, glad you're ok.

I'm definitely a guns blazing kinda person! I once snuck up behind someone trying to break in through the side window of my house.....when he turned he sh@t himself as I had a nocked (loaded) arrow on a compound bow, drawn and pointed straight at his knee cap. That is until I realised it was my neighbor, hopelessly drunk and he'd gotten the houses mixed up
