Default Kind of spin off from the how much debt thread..

This is kinda a spin off, but what I'm wondering is; how much money do you have left over (to get you through to your next pay) after you've been paid and your mortgage payment has come out? Are you just scraping by financially? Or quite comfortable?

    not enough

umm... each fortnight we pay $1200 on our mortgage, $400 into savings/bills, $250 into a direct debit account for our insurances, and $250 into another account for my husbands hardware account (includes some work things and also bits an pieces for around the house /garden).

After that we have other bills, petrol, food etc.

I guess we normally have around $600ish in the everyday account on average.

Having said that hubby hasn't had work for 3weeks so we have chewed through most of the money we had and had to pay bills.

    Scraping by.

DH earns a reasonable wage, but the cost of living is so high! It doesn't help that we have special dietry needs and live in an expensive city. I'm hoping to go back to work a couple of days/week next year too so that should hopefully help a bit.

Still I'm very thankful for all we have and I know there are plenty that are in a worse situation.

Dunno really. It changes from fortnight to fortnight. Really depends on how much I work as to how much spare we have but generally have more than enough to get us through. Payday is this Friday and I can't wait as we have spent a lot this fortnight on outtings and just general crap we really didn't need so don't have any available money apart from the $3 I have in my purse so I can buy a drink at work tomorrow for lunch.

We're quite comfortable now, we have been in struggle town in the past, living pay to pay and borrowing money to see us through. I'm glad those days are behind us, it was pretty awful

We now have around $750 per fortnight to do with as we please after all bills, groceries, mortgages etc...
