Perhaps now would be the time to remember that it was done for religious, spiritual and personal reasons. Whilst you may disagree with the practice, personal attacks are uncool and unnecessary. This was both harsh and cruel in the thread, considering Hopefully2 has been very open and honest and respectful for the entire thread.

People, remember that there are humans on the other side of the computer screen, with thoughts and feelings, and the people who open up about a widely disliked practice are to at least not be condemned to such accusations.

Default Circumcision close to being banned in Tasmania

Like I said previously I am unsure how much pain he was really in as he was not crying for more than a minute. He was on the boob and settled straight away.

He was unsettled the night after but not screaming. He cried when we changed his nappy but that's what newborns do. It healed within a week and a half.

The only thing I was deeply upset about was the lack of analgesia.

It is very difficult situation and when done for religious reasons it's still done with a heavy heart. No woman wants to put their child in harms way. It's a covenant of the father but we accept that it's necessary for eternal acceptance.

As you can imagine it takes an infinite belief to do what most of you consider the unthinkable. I don't expect you too.
I respect folks right to practice religion. I find religious history interesting. I believe its all fiction written in the olden days to teach various lessons..but I absolutely think there's a place for it in today's society.

I just can't understand how grown adults in todays society believe its all actually true ...to the extent they would, without question, take a knife to their child (in a self described horrific process).

I don't mean to be rude but lack of independent thought when it comes to issues of your child's welfare smacks of brainwashing. I hope you have a good support network and friends outside of your religion.

    Good luck with bub.

If it was a minority religion like witchcraft wanting to do this to babies there would be an outry (rightly so). I don't get why religions are exempt!
