Hi all! My DD is now 14 weeks and my maternal health care nurse is encouraging me to start "responsive settling". She is dead against cried-out (as am I). The techniques can be watched on www.qec.org.au/vodcast.php
Up until now she only falls asleep in the sling or if I'm rocking her and doesn't link her sleep cycles during the day. She co sleeps in a side car arrangement at night and does 7pm-2am (with a dreamfeed at 10pm) and then 2-7am. In the 2-7am I often have to give her a dummy several times.
The nurse reckons that responsive settling will help with linking her sleep cycles during the day and her not needing the dummy at night.
This is my first baby and I don't want to give her bad habits that become difficult to change later but more importantly I definitely do not want my little one to loose faith in her mommy always being there when she needs me.
What do other natural mummies out there think about this responsive settling?
