No she has not moved yet...
the big move is on thursday.

My cousin is taking stuff for her own house...without consulting anyone..

The house is not being sold..so will take a while to work out the stuff...and I do not think anyone should just take stuff..

some of it is important to all of us..not just my cousin.

I worked in a nursing home, my advice is to only take the basic necessities things do go walk about which is rather sad but not much you can do when some have dementia, but make sure nan has some special things moving out of her home is a massive step. Your cousin shouldn't be taking things. I now work with aged in their homes I see family do this all the time. Good luck, just support your nan.

yeah she is not taking too much to the home...

mainly pictures that I am putting up on nails to the wall.

    Then just small things..nothing pricey...

my cousin is taking loads of her nic naks...things that I loved too...
there are 8 grandchildren...so surely we have to be fair.

No, it's not just you - that is REALLY crap behaviour.

We had a 'family' member do something similar and it was bl00dy awful.

Big hugs to you. It's hard enough watching someone you love move into a home, you don't need to deal with this as well

I would be speaking up now before she goes to town on the place. Nobody should be taking anything your poor Gran probably hasnt even packed the things she is taking with her yet.
And after that its up to your Gran to decide what happens with anything thats left.

Surely someone is responsible for her assetts and financial affairs?! That person should be making the decisions... not your cousin.
So sad how families can get during these such times. I saw it with my nan. Aweful!

This happened in my DHs family too, it's so hard to watch *hugs*

I'd say something discreetly before she takes something that means a lot to your gran and causes some serious upset

It absolutely makes my blood boil. We had few of those 'people' (I use that word very loosely) when nana passed, and then again when Grampa died.

I have only disgust and contempt for these people. In our case they saw their parents as a dollar amount and not much more, but funnily enough, it only happened at the end... Everyone was lovely and normal until nana died. If it's grief, it's an odd way of dealing with it.

Sorry that's happening to you... Unfortunately, if yours are anything like mine, it doesn't matter if you just let it go or if you confront the behaviour, the end result will be the same...
