I dont like it. I feel my house is never clean enough. I hate having to do the 'get a drink, get snacks ect' etiquette. I worry that I will run out of things to say.

On the other hand, id love if people visit me, id feel loved. Nobody does though.

I also love visiting. I dont care what other peoples houses look like, whether they are too big or too small (though here all the houses are the same so they are all big). If there is an awkward lull in conversation i can just say i have things to do and leave. I love visiting my friends as they have coffee machines!! and i dont :P

I get that. I was more referring to pp's comments where they just don't like anyone visiting at all but are happy to visit with other people. I have a friend like this and it annoys the heck out of me (and it's obvious when they do it). I am a very gracious and generous host but couldn't give a rats what other people do at their place - I just like being invited over occasionally.

My family lives not far away, so often parents or sisters will drop in. This I don't mind...we all have the same ideas on cleanliness etc & they don't care what I wear. In laws usually tell us they are dropping in, so that's cool. Friends are generally the same.

Not a fan of other drop ins & I never do it - always let people know if I'm coming. Don't like to impose on anyone.

Oh my goodness! I thought I was the only one that disliked having people over, but after reading this thread I find I am not.. Wow. I think it stems back to my parents never having people over so I never go used to it. I also feel my house is never quite good enough...

I am getting slightly better now, but I do a tidy up, (hide everything) and do like to know when they are coming.

Yay, tis good to know I am normal!

This is how I feel. Just curious, did your parents entertain at home? Mine didn't and I am sure that is where I get it from.

I love it. I love talking and socializing. Sometimes it's best if it's just a few people at a time for a quiet chat.

We rarely had people over, and when we did, my mum made us clean the house top to bottom, especially bad when my nanna came over! Once the house was clean we weren't allowed to do anything but sit and wait. Even if I was having a friend over I had to clean my room and the lounge and bathroom before I invited them

Well... When I say I like visiting but don't like visitors it's more that given the choice, I prefer to go elsewhere.

I am quite anti social so don't do much socialising anyway... But there are times when you're expected to socialise and when those times arise, that's when I'd rather go to your place than have you visit mine.

I particularly dislike children in my home which I am not really happy with... But dd understands how to behave in the homes of others and brings her own things to occupy her... Other kids ive had over go through every room, cupboard, drawer and destroy the place. No thanks.

This is how I am too. I do like the company but I stress SO much about the house and stress everyone else out in the meantime. I feel bad, we always go to people's houses but it takes me weeks of mental preparation to invite anyone over!
