Default *tmi warning* Help! Killer hemorrhoids!!

I had them but more so the varicose veins in the "front" area. I could hardly walk or even stand up for longer than 10 mins. Aching throbbing and painful. My obstetrician said they won't affect my birth (but the pain during birth was worse than my contractions so I had a epidural). I bought the black pregnancy shorts the recovery shorts I can't remember their proper name they are like a lycra bike short and omg they gave so much support that I could do anything on my feet for hours. My ob also told me mine were the worst he has ever seen - big bunches of grapes. Revolting. SRC rings a bell - or something like this. I bought from pharmacy but they aren't cheap but so worth it. I also had a few accupuncture sessions and red laser therapy which helped immediately but didn't last long.

Had them through both my pregnancies, but much worse with the second - esp after the birth. Witch hazel helped to sooth them and eventually made them a little smaller to the point I could get them back in (I also had quiet a few). Soak some pieces of small square cloth in witch hazel and freeze them in freeze lock bags. Mine were really big as well and what I did immediately after going to the loo was apply the frozen home made pads to them, press with my palm - as hard as I could manage - and lie down with my feet in the air for at least 30min. I would then apply the cream.

Unfortunately, gravity is your biggest enemy so you need to get off your feet as much as possible while they're aggravated and apply the above and icepacks. Fill up some condoms with water and freeze them, then wrap in some light cloth and apply. The more you do it the more they reduce the swelling. If you can get them back in that also helps.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news - they won't go away until well after you've had your bubby and they're likely to get 100 times worse during the birth itself. DS2 is 7 weeks old and mine are only just going down now, though have a referral to see a specialist to have the last of them removed. It has been very challenging. When you go to the hospital take witch hazel and maternity pads, soak them and ask the midwives to freeze them (take zip lock bags). Very soothing.

They are nasty things - I hope you don't have as many problems as I have had.

They suck. I've been drinking a lot of water and having 2 pieces of fruit a day minimum for the dietary fibre, makes stools easier to pass.

I had them too during my second pregnancy and they never went away so had to have surgery to remove them.

Thanks for all the tips ladies! I tried popping them back in but couldn't quite manage it, prob too big right now. I got some witch hazel, will try that and ice packs. Will also try staying off my feet, but with a hyper 23 mth old, that's gonna be a little challenging!!!

I had bad ones too, worse with 2nd pregnancy. Worst was when one thrombosed and the skin on top ulcerated - so painful. I could never get mine to stay back in either. There are some medicated haemorrhoid wipes called Rectogesic which I found the most soothing and good to gently clean after passing a motion. Haemorrhoids do suck so sorry you're going through this. Mine went away a couple if months after the birth. Hope yours behave themselves. :/
