    Question Can babies have egg?

A friend has given my 8 month old tuna quiche for lunch and she has rung me to say that around her mouth is a bit red (like a rash) but they are going to keep an eye on her.

At what age can a baby have egg or egg products? Before today she has never had any egg.

Could this be an early sign of an allergy or is this a normal reaction?
There is no egg allergies in our family.

    Thanks for any help!

DP's family is prone to allergies so I have been recommended not to give DS egg WHITES til 12 months.

I THINK the yolks are ok from 6 months....

    I would google it...

Thanks stellarella - I've googled and like you said they do say egg yolks are ok but refrain from egg whites until 12 months but haven't found anything regarding say whole egg products like quiche.

I do hope she's ok - bring a first time mum makes me worry of course!

That does sound like a mild allergic reaction to egg (to me). Many children grow out of egg allergies after a few years but I would definitely avoid giving her anything with egg in it for a long time. Since she is already reacting then any further exposure could make it much worse. If is was me I would get some professional advice too.

My daughter has eczema (so more likely to have allergies) and we still haven't given any egg - even yolk. She is 10mo. I am planning on trying yolk at 11 months and then white at 12mo. I would wait longer but I would like to know if she reacts before she goes to daycare at 13mo.
