I tell him I'm going to vacuum them up otherwise ( he hates the vacum cleaner) that makes me sound really mean!

    Some things ive done

Make sure there is a place for everything, and if possible, label where things go with pictures.

Anything left on the floor goes in "time out" where DD can't play with them for a day (sometimes longer)

As long as they haven't totally trashed the toy room with everything mixed up, yanno chaos I give them 20min on the timer then I put whatever is left over into a bag and throw it in the cupboard for a few weeks.

I also found using a dustpan as a scoop helps make it quicker for them, plus they make digger noises which helps make it a bit of a game

Default getting toddlers to clean up

My DD does it automatically - think having an anal mummy as an example has helped (mostly). She cleans up after playing with toys, puts all her crayons and markers back in the caddy when done love it!!!

I make sure I get in and help DS pack up all his toys. I have always made cleaning fun with my kiddies though, I give them special rags to clean around the house... We put on the radio and dance and clean and its heaps of fun.

(I have also been known to use the vaccum threat LOL)

I pretend it's SO much fun to clean up....

Probably only works because he's still only little (2) and easily manipulatable, but the earlier you get them into the habit or helping and participating the better I say!

Hmm, I'm wondering if manipulatable is even a word...!
