Default Agh - Parents who sit in their car while their kids play

at the playground. I'm judging you.

    Useless.

A woman pulled up and took her kids out of their car seats, then jumped back in the car playing on her phone while her kids came and played on the playground pretty much unsupervised.

Oh dear - um - she had an important work document to get out, she had a migraine but still wanted to let her children have their 2 hours of outdoor play, she was suffering badly from morning sickness and didn't want to move, she was going to strangle the oldest if she didn't have 10 minutes to herself, or she was a really lazy parent - but at least she drove them to a playground to play.

Big deal. Much better than helicoptering them around the playground. As long as they are in sight of her, I dont see the problem. It isnt like she left them there and came to pick them up later!

Let kids be kids without parents hovering over their every whim

Probably has a better line of sight & in turn is supervising her kids more than me when I let 2 year old DS out to play in our backyard while I take 10 minutes to have a cuppa.

I honestly don't see the issue? And I'm one of the most judgey mcjudges I know.

I don't helicopter my kids, I make sure I'm close enough and watching them to ensure they don't run onto the road or aren't causing problems on the playground.

Letting 2 preschoolers and a toddler run that free in that kind of environment might not be a big deal to you guys, but it's a huge difference from my full fenced back yard.

I think playgrounds are boring but I always play with the kids while we are there. If they have other kids to play with I sometimes sit on the seat and watch them.

My DH was at the playground with DD 1 and two kids who live near us but we've never actually met rode their bikes to the playground. They are 6 & 8. The 6 y/o girl started playing with DD. Her 8 y/o brother rang his Mum on his mobile and said they were thirsty and could she bring them a drink. The Mum drove down in her car, handed the boy 2 cans of coke and drove off again. By this stage the 6 y/o was sitting on a bench seat with DH and DD. she had told them their names, where they lived, what school they went to. The Mum did not pay one bit of attention. she happily drove off while her 6 y/o was chatting to a bloke she didn't know. DH was completely flabbergasted.

Are her kids running on the road?
