Default Hand foot and mouth disease while pregnant

I'm not sure if this is the right section so please move if not.

DP just told me this morning that when he had his tooth pulled a week and a half ago that the dentist told him he had the adult version of hand foot and mouth. I realise now that I had it too, I actually saw the ulcer/whatever they are called in my mouth.

I feel horrible that I just ignored it instead of getting checked. I don't drive so going to the doctors is a pain. I figured it was just a cold and they wouldn't be able to do anything anyway.

Even worse DS was saying that his tummy hurt for a few days and now he has diarrhea He always tells me stories about something hurting so I didn't take him seriously and just told him to rest on the lounge.

I'm worried about what it does during pregnancy.. Does anyone have any experience with it??

Thanks for reading. Google is doing my head in with some of the things I am reading though for the most part it has been okay.

    Thanks for replying!

I haven't been to my first appt at the hospital yet. They couldn't fit me in until the 28th August.

I think i'm going to have to get DP to take us to the doctor when he gets home.

Default Hand foot and mouth disease while pregnant

I had hand foot and mouth when I was preg with my 3rd. My 2 older daughter also had it. Saw my GP and OB and there is no treatment for it just a matter of waiting it out. My OB told me it is only dangerous if you are full term with a risk of the baby getting it but early and during pregnancy is ok..
I would just ring the maternity ward of your hosp just to be safe..

Default Hand foot and mouth disease while pregnant

I was pregnant (early 2nd tri) when DD got it, and my girlfriend was further along when her son brought a pretty severe version home from daycare..

We both got told by our diff doctors that chances of it passing through the placenta are so slim, it's virtually nil. It's only if you are full term and about to deliver that it's a worry.
