    I need some help please

I am making a Dolly Varden/Fairy Barbie cake for my nieces 5th birthday soon. The skirt is going to be piped on buttercream in pink and purple with edible glitter sprinkled over it and little pink and white edible flowers placed around the skirt.

My question is, what can I do around the cake board? I am on a budget and the cake is costing me around $60 as it is. It is fairy/butterfly theme and and need some inspiration. I have done alot of googling of images but would love to see what other hubbers come up with.

I would cover it with green fondant first then put some little flowers and butterflies around it

Thanks LM for the suggestion. I was hoping to avoid fondant as I have never used it and I won't get a chance to practise with it before hand. Orginally, that was my first idea but I think I will have to veto it.

    Thankyou but!

You could try Marshmallow fondant, it's easy to make and use. Otherwise a green foil type wrapping paper and maybe some of those pre-made icing flowers from the supermarket stuck on with a dab of royal icing to get them to stick.
