Default Best holiday spots with the family in SA

Kangaroo island hands down. Kids definitely don't need to be older to enjoy it. Stay at island beach and ki wilderness resort in one of their family rooms.

Victor and goolwa are overrated, touristy and horrible.

yorke peninsula is a fave here.

If you live rural what abiut staying in the city?

Spend a day at the zoo, ride the popeye, go to the museum, botanical gardens, playgrounds.

    Go to st kilda playground.

do a day in birdwood/gumeracha, visit big rocking horse and gorge wildlife park.

    ride the tram to glenelg.

there are a few train ride and hobby farms in the hills you can visit, mine had a blast at this one, it's not an all day place but enough for a few hours to enertain little ones http://www.platform1.com.au/

I've heard carrick hill is great for littlies too but not been myself.

And depending on when you come different things always seem to be on in the city.

Oh yes The big rocking horse at Gumeracha is great, and it has a fantastic wooden toy factory/shop attached there. Also a bit of a petting zoo, though when we went it was a little average.

The Gorge Wildlife Park have camels now as well, and a viewing platform for them.

I think there is a great petting zoo just outside Hahndorf. Hahndorf is possibly worth a visit if you were interested in German towns, and of course there is the Hans Heysen's house there (the cedars???) which is apparently stunning.

Monarto Zoo is also an option.
