Default Best holiday spots with the family in SA

Ok, so my hubby is finally getting some holidays...yay... and we want to take the kids away for around 4-5 nights somewhere in SA. I haven't really ventured around much of it and would love some advice. So any reccomendations as to where is a great spot to get away?

How old are the kids? If they are a bit older, kangaroo island is stunning and outdoorsy.
Otherwise somewhere like port Elliot or goolwa is great for a beach place.
This time of year is great for the flinders ranges too.
Or just find somewhere nice in maclaren vale or near willinga/ aldinga.

we hired a huge houseboat last year, with a spa on the roof, we have four children ranging between 10 & 20, we all loved it!

We live in a small coastal town so would love something a little bit different. We are thinking maybe the riverland somewhere. My kids are 6, 3 and 1.

The Flinders is really special at this time of year, especially after the rain we have had. Also highly recommend the hills and Kangaroo Island. Our kids are 3 and 5 and love visiting all 3

Subbing, Hubby and I only moved to SA this year so we'd like to see it before our job placement runs out...

We have done the flinders ranges... Freezing but we went for Queens birthday. If you can 4WD it and do the geological trail it's really cool. lots of fossils (but no Dinos...)

    I like Victor Harbour.

But essentially I'm just Subbing so I can steal the ideas others are throwing at you! :-)

Port Lincoln and coffin bay are very nice. The port Lincoln national park is really nice for hiking lots of trails .

Coonawarra is nice and pretty too.

There are farm stay places for families too where the kids can muck in

Where in SA are you currently, and what time of year will you be travelling?

If coming from adelaide, heading down the coast to robe, beachport and mount gambier is nice, then you can head back to Adelaide through the coonawarra wine region. There are a few kids attractions on the way too. Like a mini-train park, a fairy tale park, closer to tailem bend there are amusement parks and then the monarto zoo just out of adelaide.

It really depends on how old your kids are, as to what you decide to do. And if you want to drive around or just stop at one destination.
