Default Family Day Care or Long Day Care?

I guess it comes down to if he's happy in his current care or not. If he's happy I'd leave him.

My son was in FDC until around 3, and has been in LDC for almost a year now.

I found he was probably ready for LDC a little before 3.

Some of the other parents at my old FDC did a bit of both with their 2-3yo children, say LDC 2 days a week and FDC 1 day a week.

But if your child is already settled in LDC, then I wouldn't take them out at this stage.

Default Family Day Care or Long Day Care?

I LOVE the big child care centers. Sending my boy to somebody's house that I don't know just feels a bit " unregulated". I know you have to be registered, have things in place bla bla bla but after my boy swallowed a 50c piece at home and an ambulance ride to hospital what happened if there is an emergency at FDC? At least in child care centers the center manager would probably ride in the ambulance and the rest of the carers look after the other kids. I'm a bit of a systems girl, quality assurance and all that. My boy is 15 months and he loves his carers to bits. They have really worked with him to make him happy in the center and he sleeps 2 hours every day with them checking on him every 5 mins. I just like the structure and systems in place to ensure great care. Knowing this is audited on regular basis is piece of mind for me.
