Default Anyone going to WFC (Westmead) #2

    Hi ladies,

Poss, how are you. I'm glad you are finally doing Ivf.
    How did your appt go.
I have had my baby girl from westmead.
She is now 5 months old.
    Contemplating going one last time.
Not sure whether to go to westmead or try the springwood clinic here in Brisbane.
Wondering which one is the cheapest.

    Hi there
So glad to find this thread again, I read it ages ago and then lost it!

We are currently doing IUI in Canberra but will be asking for a referral to Westmead IVF assuming this IUI is unsuccessful. So good to see there are other 'travellers' and from further afield, too.

For those who transferred to Westmead from another FS, were they happy to transfer your tests results & medical file over?

Also how long are people waiting for their initial appointment at Westmead? II'm thinking maybe I should get the referral from my GP now and make an appointment in advance. I'm still waiting for the info to arrive in the mail, I called last week.

And finally...does anyone know whether a particular FS at Westmead has a speciality in 'older' ladies (I'm approaching 42). I see they all have their own specialities, but noone has listed 'grannies' FWIW we also have some MF issues (poor morphology stats). Oh yeah, we're the whole package

Once again, so happy to have found you all again.

    hi ladies,

I am currently at westmead.. Just finished my first cycle. The ET was cancelled due to a high risk of OHSS. So I am having an FET after a months break. Problem is my cycle is all messed up now due to the meds and EPU. We planned a holiday a while back- not knowing we would be doing IVF at the time.. it now doesn't fit in with my crazy cycle... I am thinking I will be in forster when I will be needing blood tests for checking ovulation etc.

    So two questions..
    1. How much is involved with a natural FET cycle?

    2. Could I get my bloods done in Forster?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi ladies,

Beanie - With natural FETs you usually have an ovulation home pee test kit, one or two blood tests and also they will need to do an internal ultrasound to check your lining if its your first FET for that cycle.

Speak to the nurses to see what they think and if you can just do the ovulation kits instead?

twocam - I'm not too sure about your questions but I'm sure one of the other ladies can help you

Angela - huge congrats on the birth of your bubba. Hope it's all going well x

wickets - ahhhhh that sucks that you didn't o this month. Fingers crossed the next month is better for you.

Big hello to everyone else!! Wishing you all the best of luck for your cycles the next few months

    xx

    HI Everyone

I'm like Jems I have been around reading just haven't posted for a while.

We had a Natural FET last Sunday 2 day Embies 1 was a 4 cell and the other 2 cell so both where they should be though I have tarted getting a little pain her and there so not too confident again.

Hey Crofty What is the process now if there are NK cells and you IVF?
Unfortunately for me I haven't found a job yet there just isn't much up here on the Central Coast I almost feel Unemployable either too qualified or not enough experience and that stresses me out, then again on Fri my b$%ch of a boss told me the sick leave I applied for on Tuesday (I told her I was having my FET but really I went for an interview ) she told me to change to AL I know what I did was wrong by lying but she has just proved her point that she doesn't believe it is medical. The worst thing is I cant leave until we find another job as we need a constant income coming in to cover any up coming IVF, bils etc. But I will be walking into the HR Office first thing on Tuesday (she has had the last week off)and demanding an explanation why one person at our company who also went through IVF gets complete support from the company even when she had 7 weeks off due to a miscarriage, yet I had 2 weeks off and it doesn't fit in with the business needs? I'll also threated to go to Fair work Aust and Human rights Commision if they don't move me away from her.

AOB did you read Bared to you did you enjoy that one as much as your FSOG or have you found another that comes close to beating it?? LOL

Ok all lets hope we get some BFP real soon.

    Hi guys,

I am on the Facebook group as well, but I thought I would ask in here.
For those ladies travelling to westmead from interstate, where do you stay?

I did my first Ivf cycle and stayed at the hotel and it cost me $1000.

    Hi angelanathan,

There is accomodation on the hospital grounds. If you ring westmead, they should be able to help you.

    Hi everyone else,
My last lot of bloods showed that I had ovulated and Cecelia rang me to "uncancel" my FET.
I went in on Monday. How on earth are you suppose to wait for 2 weeks before testing?

Hey mrs jag - g8 to hear your doing well, wow 28 weeks seems that it's flown!!! For me anyway - hahhahaha

Jemjems - how did you go with your request for double transfer? When is FET scheduled???

Wickets - enjoy your month off then and hope your body is starting to get back on track ready for transfer

Welcome (again) two can / sorry can't help with FS specialties, I just know that my FS Dr Fong is also an endocrinologist

Hi beanie87- welcome, sorry cant help with your Q, from memory the cost of FET (at the most) is about 750 out of pocket, all depends if you're reached the Medicare threshold already this year (if you did a stim already and chose that option I'm sure your reached it) I think one if my FETs I was out if pocket 90 (that's paying up front though as well) it just annoying having to wait quite some time to get the money back due to all the processing involved

Hi eagle girl - hope all is going well in your tww my biopsy will provide more answers on the severity of my NK cells - an from that the specialist will decide on my treatment plan that will coincide with my ivf cycle (possible *** steroids and cleaner to the mix I guess) unsure of dosage as well. $ux about your manager!!! Hope it all works out for the best sooner rather than later , did. You also read reflected in you??? Can't wait until the 3rd instalment entwined in you comes out this year either!!!!

    Hi ladies,

Wickets that's great news... The TWW is such a drag. But hopefully all the waiting will be worth it.

Hi crofty... No one has said anything about double transfer, so I assume it was just a no... Cecelia didn't mention anything on the phone. Had blood test on Monday but my levels mustn't be right.. Back tomorrow morning for another blood test.. Hopefully then I can start peeing on O sticks.. I am sooo impatient.

Hope everyone had a great long weekend.

    Xoxo
