Default TTC and not wanting to move #2

J, I've been taking blackmores conceive well gold. My gp told me that pre-conception vitamins are a waste of money and to just take folate or fefol. What is your opinion of pre conception vitamins? What do you take?

I took nothing with my miscarriage,

As a result of misscarriage my ob advised 5 mg? Of folate but i queried him on my iodine levels (critically low) he said make sure i buy iodised salt which i do but i eat salt rarely so he said blackmores pregnancy & breast feeding vitamins

I remember my ob telling me last time they were a waste and just need folate.

But in saying that since we began ttc in dec and when I started taking elevit I found I have barely had any colds etc this year. Usually I have like 8 by now. I put it down to taking these. I'm not a huge fruit eater. So maybe that's why they have made a difference for me lol

Im trying hard to convince myself to wait until wed to test, but its tricky! I nornally get a few days of brown spotting pre AF though so maybe if it hasnt started by Tues I can test then...FS said if no AF have bloods on Friday. Will have to call them wed to organise form to be taken down to path for first up fri am as they are closed Thurs.

I think it will be the hardest not to test on Sun but thats only 11dpo...hopefully my rational side will just flush quick so I cant be tempted lol

I'm also 9dpo and also have fuller and tender boobs. Will resist testing until at least cd33. Had cd24 bloods & will get results monday. Told if AF hasn't arrived by cd28 to have further bloods. Seeing fs on Monday (first appointment) so will see what he says.
Good luck holding out to test and fingers crossed for this month!!

Whenever we see our nurses at the clinic, they always ask what we are taking and when my DP mentions blackmores they are happy to hear it.

I would agree kind of lol. If u take a multi vitamin and folate it would equal the same as the preconception vitamins, quite often this is a keeper combination depending on ur choice of vitamins, mine personal choice it quite expensive so it much of a muchness really. At the end of the day everyone should take multi vitamins regardless of pregnancy or ttc

The only problen with regular multivitamins (not preg specific ones etc) is that they can contain vitamin A and the OB I worked for told a patient the other day to not supplement vit A as its bad for prrgnancy. Not sure if J can clarify that. It could be a certain amount etc so perhaps some are okay?? (clearly I am not a doctor so nobody go taking my advice as gospel!!)

Talk about crazy dreams!! In the 10 mins when DP woke me up asking if I wanted any rice porridge, cooking it and bringing it to me I had falled back asleep snd was having a crazy dream where a guy outside the pizza shop was telling me how chickens who dont lay eggs (not sure if such a thing exists per say) are often still called chickens but that their actual name is an Eggless Duck (seriously..where do I pull this cr@p from!). The topic came up because as I was waiting for my pizza there was a chicken wandering around laying an egg.....

Does anyone think I should lay off the drugs before bed :what:

What I have heard is that a certain amount of Vitamin A can be a problem with pregnancy. They say not to use a multivit containing vitA in case the rest of your diet already has a certain intake of vitA. They follow that up by saying if the rest of your diet is normal then the levels found in a normal multivit should be fine. But really it's better to be safe huh? Because who knows how much vitA is in the rest of our intake. You need to be careful with certain types of creams too as some contain high conc of vitA such as ones containing "retinol" as that is vitA too. I am no dr either...this is just what I have heard.
