    Default Your Recycling Bin

Yeah I'm pretty good with recycling. I take off lids and wash bottles out. I usually remove staples from paper (I get a lot of weird looks for this!) I try and remove tape from boxes but occasionally some slips through. My kids often put things in the wrong bin and I swap it over. I have lectured my family about removing lids. They hate me. Lol

*I* recycle 100% properly, its something I really care about and it only takes a couple of minutes.

DH, on the other hand, has been known to thrown manky stuff in there such as used paper towel ewwww!

Our recycling guidelines say explicitly not to wash out bottles etc, because they do it anyway and they ask us to save water by not doing it. pizza boxes are fine, even if there is a bit of food stuck to them.

every now and then our recycling centre has an open day, it is really cool to learn more about what they do there.

Option 1. I am anal about recycling.

Everything gets rinsed and I remove anything that shouldn't be there. 100%.

I constantly harass family and friends about not recycling 'properly' (annoying, I know!).

I'm still gobsmacked that some places don't have recycling.

I'm simply relieved that since moving local council areas we get a proper sized recycling bin and not two tiny containers - one for paper and one for glass.

Our council tells us to rinse things at the end of doing the dishes; so you're not wasting water rinsing them under the tap. I think they say bottle lids are supposed to come off.

    That is a good thing!

I used to be in the city...I just can't get used to throwing recyclables in the normal bin.
