    Default Your Recycling Bin

After watching my recycling bin drive past and empty the bins on our street (yes, another action packed day for me) I was wondering how many people actually put the proper things in recycling bins.

So, do you recycle properly? Do you wash out the bottle and remove the bottle tops like you are supposed to? Do you remove all staples and tape from boxes like you are supposed to? Do your greasy pizza boxes get put in the normal bin like they are supposed to?

Poll coming for those who wish to remain anonymous. Choices will be
    - Yes, I recycle 100% properly (which means you rinse and remove anything that is not allowed)
    - Ok, SOME stuff slips in there unwashed, unstapled etc.
    - I never rinse or remove anything (which means you only put in recyclables but never rinse them out or remove staples/tape/pizza boxes etc.)
    - No, the recycle bin often has general household stuff in it (which means if your normal bin is full, the odd bag of food rubbish etc. goes in the recycle bin)

Option 2: some stuff up but on the whole we are pretty careful about what we recycle.

BTW - my mates ex was sooooooooooooooo anal about recycling - DROVE US ALL INSANE!! Now they have split up and I get so much joy when I am at her house delibrately NOT recycling 100% correctly. He was a recyling nazi

I'm pretty fanatical about putting the correct things in each bin, and also making as little rubbish as possible.
But staples? Are we not allowed to leave staples in? And tape on boxes? All that stays on here. And our council allows pizza boxes, as long as they are not heavily soiled.

However I've just moved into a unit and I am disgusted at what I see in the recycling bins. Household rubbish, fruit and vegie scraps.... I think our recycling bins are a complete write-off!

Edit- I voted 100% properly, because I 100% follow the council guidelines that are mailed out. But yes I do leave staples etc.

I rinse, I take tape off and I put pizza boxes in the big bin, but I don't unstaple, and occasionally the odd something naughty will make it's way into the bin. I blame DP for that!

DP works for a recycling company.

He is slack because the machines wash everything anyway.

Every state is different with recycling too. WA you couldn't recycle bottle lids?!

I never rinse and I don't pull staples out. I had no idea you were even meant to.

We have never had any warnings about our rubbish.
