Default Dying hair when pregnant, safe or unsafe?

What's everyone's opinion on this? I haven't coloured my hair all pregnancy because I am not sure if it is safe but I am having a csection next week and know there will be lots of photos taken and call me vain but I don't want to looked like a haggard old witch in them so am considering getting a colour and putting it in. And if it is safe what brand of dye would be the best to use?

I went both of my pregnancies with horrid regrowth believing hair dye was bad for pregnant women and I do regret the resultingly photos. In all honesty I do still think most home kits are not so great given the fumes most of them have. I'd get one of those foam hair dyes that are out now, they don't have a lot of smell and although won't colour your hair greatly, they do add a huge lift.

Or see a hairdresser, they know what their on about and will be able to dial back the chemicals in their mix if needed.

Someone just raised a thread on this last week, so there are several replies there. My FS said best to avoid it in 1st trimester because they just don't know ... and he is laid back about everything else.

I've always held back until 12 weeks, to my great shame and horror.

I already had regrowth when I found out I was pregnant, so I've been in my own kind of misery for 4 weeks now.

I'm a natural blonde, and I dye my waist length hair a bright, rich purple. My hair grows fast, and my special dye fades gradually to a hot pink.

So you can only imagine what I look like now.

I'm dying it again before my first obstetrician appointment. I couldn't bear to meet for the first time looking like a street urchin.

I waited until after the first trimester. That is what my OB recommended also. I only have highlights which doesn't touch the scalp as much but I think full colour is fine too.

Lol that gave me a bit of a giggle! I started dying it after 12 weeks just for my peace of mind. I just always made sure I was in a very well ventilated area with the fan on
