This is from google translate and it rings true with what I was taught in school.

Kon'nichiwa, watashinonamaeha DSdesu. Watashi wa, XYZ karate no gakkō kara kima****a. Anata no kyoka o ete, watashi wa XYZ kata o ****ai

Hm, I'm super rusty but let me see...

Ohaiyou gozaimasu. Onamae wa (name) desu.

XYZ Karate School de gakusei desu (I am a student at XYZ Karate School, more grammatical sense than 'I am from...')

XYZ kata o shi.tte, kudasaimasenka? (Can I please do the XYZ kata? (Take out the full stop obviously, the silly thing thinks I am saying a swear otherwise).

It's probably not 100% correct so if anyone else has a better way of saying it let me know

This sounds more natural than SPG's version although I think both are right.

Ohaiyo gozaimasu is only for early in the day - eg. Before 10am.

Would you put a "no" in in between XYZ and kata on the third line?

Onamae wa (name) desu. Dozo your-rushku
XYZ Karate School de gakusei desu
    XYZ kata o shi.tte, kudasaimasenka?

    that would be good?

any suggestions on phonetic spelling so i can help him pronounce it all nicely?

Yes although looking over it again I think you want watashi no namae wa...

Onamae is honorary and I don't think you use that referring to yourself.

    Pronunciation wise it's as you've written but it's doh-zo-yorosh-ku, and shi.tte is pronounced without the "I" so it's sh-te.
