The doctor believes its a mix of colic and reflux, she's given me medication to give her for reflux. It's been two days, no improvement yet, I've been putting baby gaviscon in her bottles. The reflux might explain the face she's not taking her bottles, she's like a wriggly worm at feed time, constantly crying etc.

Baby chiro? What Do they do and how does this help them?

Hi Lou, I heard that it takes at least one week (or maybe 2?) for reflux meds to start working.

Are you doing all the reflux recommendations like elevating mattress, waiting 20min after feed to lie down baby etc?

It's good that your doctor was helpful! Fingers crossed your baby will get better and you will be able to have some rest

Yes doing all. The worst part is she's hungry but fusses over her feeds and must hurt so she doesn't get any milk down. Aghhhh so frustrating!!!

I've been taking my bub for baby chiro and well it's not like some people said and I brought home a different baby but there has been a marked improvement. The chiro did a few neck pelvic and spine adjustments. The idea behind chiro us all the nerves run centrally through the spine, so healthy spine, healthy person. Any stresses on the spine can result in tension and in these colicky cases, digestive upsets. Do some research into it and if you decide to give it a go, make sure you choose a chiro that either specializes in babies or has lots of experience treating venues. And rest assured the spinal adjustments are very very gentle.

Can I add my 2 cents worth ?
I feel very bad for you.. Dd2 had really bad reflux !!! I was getting angry... frustrated .. and emotional as I didn't know what to do to stop her from crying crying crying ..
I put her to sleep on her side.. Used rolled up towels or you can but those sleeping positioners. I wld give her 1 sleep on her tummy.. Worked wonders but it's a very personal thing.. With SIDS to consider.. I sat beside her and watch tv...  also I tried 5 different dummies till I  found one that she liked. The sucking helps with wind . Also losec was a pure blessing.. It's prescription and it needs to be compounded liquid .. Takes about a week to start working..There's also another thing you can get but can't think of the name.. Sorry .. All those over the counter products did nothing !! I'f you have a reclinable highchair prop them up in it .. Very good at keeping them upright..also you can lay your baby on their tummy across your lap to help burp/release tummy pressure.  Hope something I said works ..

    I will take anyone's 2 cents worth
Ok so losec is about a week, we started this Friday so fingers crossed it kicks in. I've started the transition from novalac colic formula to reflux just to see if that helps too, I purchased mam colic bottle Friday to see if that helped ( she wouldn't take the dr browns bottles) and I was so impressed last night she finished the WHOLE bottle and just then, the whole thing. Yay!! Think I'll go grab some more of those today! By Friday If she hasn't improved we will be referred to the pediatrician and ill ask gp about baby chiro. Thankfully there are a few more options, we both just seem to be pulling our hair out, we get upset, feel helpless and then cause we're so frustrated take it out on eachother which isn't fair.

Chiro, baby massage and a product called "colic calm" we're life savers for us ( in addition to losec)
Both my boys had killer reflux and would scream all day, all night.. They were just miserable little bubbas
With DS2 we tried chiro, massage and colic calm and we were amazed with the difference these made.

Colic calm is huge in the states and is sold here via a website called 'steps'
Or something like that.. Just google colic calm and Australia.. It's $30 a bottle but I'm still on my first bottle (ds2 is 9 months)
Hope you find something that works... It's so hard for you to watch your baby cry in pain for hours.

We went through the same with my dd she had bad colic then went on to have silent reflux. Nothing worked for her ether I tried every thing you could get from the chemist for colic and nothing worked, have you tried to massage her tummy we did that every time she was having bad colic and it would help her go back to sleep, we also gave her boiled water with camomile tea in it which also helped. I ended up getting a referral to a pedatricion as I was sick of going to the drs for them to tell me it was nothing it turned out that she had silent reflux and was put on medication and was a different baby. It's hard as there is nothing u can do for colic except just comfort them it usually settles by 4mths. But I know what you are going through.

I second the sleeping on the side, is still the only way DD goes to sleep.
