Smile Doctor recommendation @ WFC Westmead Sydney

Hi all, I am new here and came across this site when I search for westmead IVF. Me and my partner is planning to give IVF a go and apparently westmead would be the cheapest option for us in Sydney.

Can you guys recommend any doctors there to see? As there are quite a few to choose from, we have no idea where to start.

Also are their wait time really long?

Many thanks guys and I feel great to join the community!

Default Which FS NOT to see

Hello, I am also with Westmead, I'm just about to start my 3rd cycle and wanted to give you some feedback on which doctor to see, as like you I also did not know. I chose Dr Nalini Gayer but am not happy with her service. It is a good idea if you find out firstly how long is the waiting period to see a Fertility Specialist, and make sure you make a follow up appointment early in the cycle. I found Dr Gayer not very forthcoming with information, the last time I saw her after an appt I was in tears as she did not like the question I asked which I felt was reasonable. She then requested I do a hysteroscopy to check my uterus, having failed 2 cycles, with me wondering why these were not done in the first instance.

If you want someone who is forthcoming with information, who lets you know what they are thinking, that you do not have to wait a long time to see, and who returns your phone calls, than I can save you the pain and heartache and do not see Dr Gayer.
I am now in the process of transferring to another specialist, with the nurse today suggesting I see the head of the clinic, Dr Howard Smith, or Rachel Bradbury.
I hope that this can help you make a decision, if needs be, ring the nurses, they are wonderful and will help with your questions, as it is a big decision.
Although you mainly deal with them throughout the process, if you have a failed cycle you need to go back to your fertility specialist, and you want to feel confortable with them, and that they are doing the utmost for you, something I did not feel with her...

    HI,

I see Rachel Bradbury and she is wonderful - like Dr Smith she is quite brutal on weight - I am now currently in weight loss mode so I can start my 3rd cycle.
But she always has time for questions and she wants to know why things havent worked and explore options - I really like her - It took me about 3 weeks to get my first appointment.

    Hi,

I'm seeing Dr Cerez Magnaye. She's very informative and you can ask her all the questions you want. She knows what she's doing. She advised me to undergo a minor surgical procedure first before starting my IVF to achieve higher success rate, and to save time and money.

Thank you so much for sharing Denise. I am about to see Dr Cerez Magnaye for the first time in a few weeks and it is so great to hear your feedback. This is my third FS at WFC and hopefully third time lucky. I first saw Dr Tong and then Dr Melhem, both of them didn’t seem to care to investigate my fertility problems, either saying just keep trying or suggesting donor eggs, they didn’t care less about trying to find out what my issues are and how to overcome them. I think because I have one child naturally they don’t take me seriously and brush me off. But we’ve been trying for nearly 5 years and numerous failed IVF attempts so obviously there is a problem and there is very little chance of us falling pregnant naturally again.

Anyway, good luck with your procedure and I hope it helps you to fall pregnant
