Default What would you consider to be general knowledge?

    Hello hubbers,
I'm applying for job and in the application one of the essential criteria listed is -
*Good general knowledge including current affairs.
I think I'm a it useless at general knowledge, I don't regularly watch news or news type programs. (they are always on at DD's bath/bedtime)

So what should you consider to be general knowledge? What should everyone know about what's happening in the world?

I would assume that general knowledge would cover things like Australian politics - knowing who the PM, state premier and GG are. Knowing the leaders of the bigger "power countries". I would think things like knowing countries and where they are located as well as their capital cities. I would probably want to know the big headlines for the week. But I don't think "general knowledge" would be too in depth - just a little bit about a lot of things...

As PP said, what is the job?

Can you start reading a couple of newspapers online? You can watch the ABC news on iview as well.

Maybe the book review and literary sections as well.
