    Default Pigeon toed

My DS2 is 15 months and has walked with his feet pointing inwards since learning how to walk, but lately it has gotten worse and worse. A friend who is a physio suggested we have it looked at in case it gets worse (she said it can be corrected with exercises).

Has anyone else experienced this with their children??

I have attached a photo, but it's hard to capture when he is standing still.

I would take him to a podiatrist (you can self refer, like a physio).

I'm not sure about very young kids, but from as early as I can remember I have been pigeon toed.

It turns out I have very low arches, which makes me roll inwards. it also causes painful shin splints.

the podiatrist made me some orthodics which effectively give me an arch, decrease my walking inwards and prevent the shin splints.

Podiatry is not covered by Medicare, but is often covered by PHI through the extras policy.

It could be something else, but I think a podiatrist would be a good starting point.

This was very similar to a friends DS, he went to a podiatrist and needed to wear some sort of leg brace to help correct it. He's in school now and you wouldn't know and he doesn't need to wear the leg brace anymore either.

Thanks for the responses. I would like to nip it in the bud with orthodics before braces are needed if possible, or at least have a specialist check over it. He already has enough on his plate at the moment

I am slightly pigeon toed too, but not as severe as this.

I wasn't aware that you could self refer to a podiatrist, thanks!
