    Default High Natural Killer Cells

Festival girl - I saw Dr M yesterday too, I was there from 3 till 3.30 or so though so I probably missed you. That treatment plan sounds great! Hoping it sends a BFP your way!

Hi there ladies, hoping you can give me a little advice please.

I was diagnosed with quite high Nk cells on thursday by my fertility specialist, but to my surprise I got a BFP today. Obviously I haven't yet had any treatment, and today is Sunday, I am stressing I can't do anything. what is my most likely outcome here? Will I have to have the infusion as well as steroids?? How quickly will they administer my meds (ie. is it urgent)? How much does the intripids cost in Australia?

Any help would be very welcomed...

Thanks Gretchen, I have all the meds now, and haven't had any side effects (thanks goodness). Here is my treatment plan:

    clexane injections-daily 40mg
    dexamethasone
    baby aspirin
infusion of intrepids tomorrow (not ivig - using a synthetic formula which costs 10th of Ivig price)

So doc is being pretty aggressive with treatment, which I am glad about, cos if I do miscarry (god forbid) I know we did everything to save it! It's amazing what science can do Huh!?

Hi ladies, I have been on a couple more threads in the past to do with NK cells but stumbled across this one this morning as I am going starting treatment again since our last chem pregnancy 2 months ago. I too was diagnosed with high uterine NK levels, around 31 from memory & have been seeing dr sacks since Jan this year. Full stim cycyle I went on Bondi Protocol with 20g Prednisolone, clexane & pessaries - ended in chem pregnancy with very low levels of 20, second attempt FET natural cycyle we upped the Preednisolone to 40g, continued with clexane & I doubled the pessaries dossage to 400mg in place of 200, I also of my own accord started taking cartia once a day...this result was more positive and I fell pregnant only to lose it at 7 weeks...I have been to see Dr M also but have chosen to use my last ice baby by again just following the double dosage on the Bondi Protocol, $ reasons mainly but I am just so over it & I am worried about the more aggressive method that Dr M uses...I would really love to know how many success stories have come from Dr M in place of Dr Sacks treatment? If this isn't successful I will save some more $ and will definitely try Dr M methods with our next full cycle. Looking forward to hearing some good news stories!

Me: 34- NK cells diagnosed Jan 2012
    DH: 31 - low swimmers
    TTC - 2009
6 attempts with 4 chemical preg....

    Default Cycle postponed

    Dear All,

Dr Reid has convinced us to wait one more month (deep sigh) to start out stimulated cycle. I had already started my 21 days of pre-cycle prednisolone (as recommended by Dr M) but we have decided to go with Dr Reid's advice as he is doing the IVF cycle for us so have weaned myself off the prednisolone for a few days before I start again on Day 8 which is tomorrow.

The reason why we are postponing is that I had started on DHEA as prescribed by Dr Reid a couple of months ago whilst waiting to see Dr M and to get US blood test results. Now we know it is NKC we wanted to just started on Dr M's protocol and not wait for the DHEA.

However, Dr Reid has strongly recommended that we just wait a month to get the full 3 month benefit of DHEA as I am over 40 with a low AMH. He says that if the DHEA can boost my AMH it will change the amount of orgalutran I have during the cycle and may improve the number and quality of my embryos. He also made the point that we have spent so much money on testing and will spend even more on IVIG that it makes sense to optimise our chances and to wait one more month.

So we are waiting for one more month. But are bitterly disappointed about the delay as we just want to get started. I am sure that everyone can understand.

I hope that everyone else is doing really well and that results are coming for you soon.

Nat - hope the pregnancy is travelling along nicely!
Kiwi - welcome. Hopefully there will lots of lovely success stories on this forum. From reading US forums, Dr M's treatment is the norm for women who have immune issues. I just wish that our health funds or medicare funded IVIG so that it could be more affordable!

    Warm regards, FestivalGirl

Hi all, can I join too?

Firstly big congrats to Nat, what an amazing pregnancy story!!! I thought I hadn't seen you on the IVF threads for a while. Please stay around your knowledge helps us all!

Hi April, my clinic buddy - and they are rubbish with immune stuff!

Quick history for me.... Starting FET next week after three failed CGH embryos (so they can't give me the 'cr*p embryo' line). After the third failure I insisted on further testing and hysteroscopy found high uterine CD57 cells.
I think the program they are putting me on is too conservative, prednisone from Day 2 (and I had to remind them) I questioned the FS about whether I should be on it before the start of the cycle and he said there was no need - hmmmm. I have put myself on asprin and high does fish oils.

Just finished Dr Beer's book which I thought was excellent and I'll be seeking an opinion from Dr Matthias if this one doesn't work.

Looking forward to following your journey's and I think this info sharing helps to at least question the FS's rather than just playing a numbers game

    Default High Natural Killer Cells

Dr Turner did my biopsy. But they were pretty rubbish at interpreting the results. The results doctor told me everything looked fine and when I got them to fax me the results and had to ring back and say my CD 57 cells were double the upper limit!
