    Default Croup cough

What does a croupy cough sound like? DD has a cough which, when she breathes in at the end, sounds like a bark. It has gotten worse overnight. It isn't constant but she is getting chesty too. Off to doc today but just asking the collective wisdom of the forum before we go.

DD often suffered from croup they call it a barking cough bc it sounds like a seal barking.
In the standard case they have it for 3 days, always worst at night and the 3rd nights the worst. U'll get steroids from dr and it works magic, generally kids who get grow out of it by 7.
If you lift up their top and when they breathe in and their skin is sucked in b/w their ribs and in the bottom point of the collar bone beneath the throat, ( its called stridor) and the breathing sounds like wheezing it's best to take them to dr/emergency right away if u don't have any meds at home.
On the positive it's only 3 days
