Exclamation URGENT: Helping Teenagers be Cyber Smart

    Hi all

My name is Florentyna Chuah, I am a 4th year Psychology Honours student from the University of Queensland. I am currently conducting a research study that examined the effectiveness of a Teen Positive Parenting Seminar Program (Teen Triple P seminar). The Triple P program has been extensively researched and evaluated with parents of young kids and parents of teenagers in group situations and has found to be effective in improving both parental skills and confidence and child behaviour.

    The seminar
"Helping Teenagers be Cyber Smart" aims at targeting parents who are concern with their teenager's mobile and Internet use. It discusses the dangers of the cyber world (i.e. Cyberbullying, Sexual Predation, Problematic exposure to pornography, etc.) and it provides parents with important information on how they can help their teenagers be cyber smart. The seminar will be delivered by my supervisor, Associate Professor Alan Ralph, who is a trained Triple P practitioner. The seminar will be provided to all eligible parents for FREE as part of the research project. I am seeking parents of teens aged 12-15 years old who are staying in Brisbane to participate in the study.

Parents are required to answer a brief online survey before attending the session and again a week or two later to assist in the research. This project has received ethical approval from the UQ School of Psychology. The clearance number is 12-PSYCH-4-144-JJ.
