Default Soothing a toddler with a cold

DS is sick for the very first time...at 18 months! It was bound to happen sooner or later, he’s had a good run.

It’s just a common cold (he went to the GP for a check up just in case), but he’s pretty miserable as you can imagine.

What do you do for your toddler when they are sick to help comfort them and ease their symptoms?

    Hugs for your DS.

I usually give lots of fluids and cuddles. Anything that can possibly wait until they're asleep, can and will. Snuggle up on the couch with him or put on his favourite DVD.

If he's really miserable then maybe some nurofen. If he loves the bath then run a warm bath and let him play in there for as long as he wants. That always makes my 2yo feel better

    Happy medicine aka nurofen.
Sends my girls off with the fairies!
Plenty of fluids and cuddles. Resting on the couch under a blanket with the tv on and they're more likely to sleep rather than in their own beds.

Yep, fluids, cuddles, favorite foods, TV, Vicks baby balsam and a vaporizer in their room at night to help clear up the nose so they can breathe!

I normally give Panadol if they are miserable too. I know my head hurts when I have a cold so I assume theirs does too!

I usually drop everything i had to do that day and just cuddle and chill out with him in bed or on the couch. Lots of fluids also. Medicine if he needs.

As above. Cuddles, fluids. You could even steam up the bathroom by running a hot shower to try and clear his congestion.

    Hope he feels better soon.
