I used it prior to both of my pregnancies. I took 1 x 1000mg tablet every day throughout my whole cycle.

DD1 - My cycles were really long after I had a m/c so I started taking Vitex in July and noticed a difference to my cycle length pretty quickly. By October, when we fell pregnant, my cycles were getting almost back to normal.

DD2 - Started taking it due to slightly irregular cycles, and probably took it for about 2 months before falling pregnant again.

Thank you for your feedback, and did you just stop taking it when you found out you were pregnant?

    Hey Kayem,

Just wondering why you are thinking of starting Vitex?

I am TTC and stopped taking the pill in late April and haven't had a period yet (apart from the usual withdrawal bleed). I am planning to start taking Vitex tomorrow to try and regulate my hormones and bring on/back my period so I can actually figure out when I am ovulating (which assumingly I am not at the moment as I am not having periods).

I started taking Vitex on the advice of my acupuncturist.
I think I took 1 tablet per day, but I think the dosage was 2 per day.... I can't swallow tablets so I mashed it into jam.
It helped my cycles regulate, (down from 70-ish days long).

It also made me smell like an Indian shop!!! The curry smell was a bit offputting, but it definately helped me anyway

Vitex gave me my bfp, I did a lot of research, before deciding to start taking Vitex from day 1 of cycle until o, and I also took b6 all cycle long to lengthen my luteal phase.

After 9 months of ttc, the first month of Vitex gave me my bfp. The result is 12 week old dd, currently asleep in my arms.

    I love love love Vitex.

I have used vitex 3 seperate times and fell pg, after infertility in one cycle taking it. My first 2 I suffered endometriosis, which indirectly causes an estrogen dominance. Then this last time (which I lost but it had nothing to do with the herb) tests had also come back with progesterone a little low.

It's brilliant stuff. Many naturos say it can take up to 3 cycles to work, but the last time I was taking it 10 days when I fell pg It works by sending signals to your pituitary gland to make more progesterone and can really help with PMS (which is often caused by an imbalance)

So do you only take it until ovulation, or throughout the whole cycle?

You can take it all cycle, I did, but you should stop immediately when you are due for your period as it can cause m/c in rare cases. Once you know you aren't pg, it's fine to start again.

Preggasaurus - yeah I've heard it's best to take from day 1 of cycle, but seeing as I don't have any cycle to speak of I'm just gonna start! Do you reckon that's a good idea? I would love to get the same result as you!!

Sunnyskies - at this point even a 70 day cycle would be good! Lol!
