Bogans was originally penned to describe the working class and keep them in their place. It was a educated persons type of snobbery- but the bogan got the upper hand when their wages became greater than the white collar and educated persons wages- hence now we have the cashed up bogan.

I live in a suburb that is pretty popular with the cashed up bogan. Lots of miners and tradies Lots living in McMansions worth double and more of the average house, many of whom grew up in housing commission houses (not that there is anything wrong with that, I love it when the under dog gets ahead) But what gets me is when they have drinking sessions on the front lawn on a Friday arvo. You have such a lovely big house, why are you sitting on the gutter drinking cheap beer with your neighbour?? And why aren't you using a glass to drink it out of?

Im happy to be a bogan, We most certianly dont sit out the front drinking lol, i dont drink at all DH has the odd drink when he is home but not cheap beer ( i wish lol)

    I think we are CUB

We wear ugg boots outside, to the shops (mortels though so it's okay

We get 'dressed up' (shower & make up) to walk to the local pub for cheep snties.

We drink goonies & home brew.

Trackies are my daily attire. I also wear them to the shops.

But we actually have enough money not to do any of these things :-/

No, CUBs are people who splash the cash around on very expensive things that are also usually hideously ugly & tacky. The "money doesn't buy you taste" theory.

I am a bogan in my home life, and not in my work/school/daycare life....

I love that this thread is still going

I have been to Bogan Gate! That's where the bogans used to be shut out but they broke through.

I thought it was where there was a big public scandal about bogans. Perhaps deep throat in this case was related to Winnie Blues.
