I don't bother stressing. I make sure it's tidy and that's it. If they look at anything other than general upkeep of the house or for damage then they are over the top real estates. I once had an agent tell me I had to remove dust from the ceiling fans... She was am idiot, and I didn't clean this fans for another 6 months till we moved out lol.

If they comment on cleanliness tell them to get stuffed.

Mine always comment on walls needing wiping down, they don't need wiping the need repainting! When we moved in this house was pristine, fresh from the builders so every little mark or blip shows on the condition report!

Now I'm slightly annoyed because my oven is clean but between the 2 glass panes on the door is streaked so it looks dirty from the outside I can't even pull it apart to clean it. If she comments I'll rip it open and shove her head in there and ask her how I am meant to clean it

We got notice for a rental inspection next week and I am freaking out about it. There's stuff that needs to be done that we've been too busy to do. I'm swamped with uni work,, DH is swamped with work, we have three little kids and we have family visiting from interstate this weekend

We get our notice of inspection about 4 weeks in advance. They are done while we are at work. We have never got anything from the real estate about them.

I do a general clean up, but I pay special attention to the kitchen and bathroom. This time I wiped over the blinds and the skirting board (I noticed they were a bit dusty). Other than that it is just a regular clean up. AS they come on the days I work the breakfast dishes are in the sink and sometimes the kids plates are still on the table

I guess if they had an issue we would hear something!

I used to just do a basic clean - make sure washing up was done (I didn't care if dishes were draining etc), vacuum, make the bed, pick up clothes on the floor etc. Just basically what I would have done if someone was coming to visit.

I never cleaned the windows or oven etc and they never looked. They used to just comment that the garden needed mowing.

I figured that as long as the house wasn't damaged, who cares if it's a little untidy - everyone lives in different ways (some messy, some neat-freaks etc) and that is fine & they should accept that - I refused to let them dictate to me how I could live my life.

I've never had an inspection yet but cause we had problems with our heather our landlord was over a few times a week for months trying to fix it! He never said anything bad about the house (and it was generally without notice!). The only thing he has said is that we keep it much cleaner that the last lot! Hoping when it comes to it to just do a quick ur around with the mop and vacuum

WA has crazy tenancy laws. In Queensland we always got 2 hr timeframe but in WA it was 4-6hrs.

Also I just found out in Queensland if a landlord is not going to renew a lease they need to give 2 months notice before the end of the lease. In WA the landlord can legally tell you on the day the lease ends and expect you to leave that day. How freaking backwards are the laws in WA.
QLD seems to have some of the better tenancy conditions.
Even NSW they give 4 hour time frames for rental inspections and only have to give you 30 days notice to leave.
They need to update the legislation everywhere to reflect the changes to that have happened to the rental market. How difficult would it be to find and get approved for a rental property in 30 days or less under the current market conditions.? I know i'm going to be screwed when that time comes.
