    Default Twins?

So has anyone heard of any way to encourage or sway for twins? I have twins in my family however has skipped last two generations and I know it sounds crazy but I would love twins! Remind me of this in years to come if I do have them and I'm complaining......lol!

Any stories about twins, ttc twins etc welcome

    :-)

I don't think you can do anything to increase your chances of falling with twins, but this is an interesting thread: http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/f...ving-twins-etc

My Mum is a fraternal twin and I'm terrified of falling with twins. We would cope (and be very happy) but I wouldn't choose it.

There are certain foods that are rumoured to help. Other factors such as weight, age, family history are big players in yours odds.

I'll be 'swaying' for twins next time.

Twins are passed through the male onto the female. So if you have twins on your Dad's side your chances will be higher.
My FIL is a twin so my DD has a higher chance of conceiving twins.
This is what my cousin was told when having IVF.... But anyone has the same chance identical twins, it's fraternal twins that run in the family because a woman would have to release two eggs.

And like PP its also to do with age etc.

I don't think you can actually do anything except hope. I think it more genes than anything. I have 3 brother first 2 are twins then my other brother, I was so worried I was going to have twins, my brother not the twin he had twins, strangely enough all sets of twins are born the same day. Good luck though.

I have identical twins and I didn't sway for them: just a happy occurrence. I started with folic acid 3 months before TTC and I've read that this can increase chances of conceiving twins. Mine are 12 weeks on tues and it's bloody hard work!

    my basic understanding...

in order to have frat twins, the mum needs to release 2 eggs in one cycle, this is why more likely when on fert drugs as they often increase the number you release. It can be hereditary (ie the women of the family have this as a part of their cycle).

ID twins, is when 2 sperm get into the same egg at exactly the same time...and is luck of nature.

I don't think you can sway either.

ID twins is when a fertilised egg splits in two from one sperm.
2 sperm entering an egg creates a genetic abnormality called triploidy which results in a baby having 69 chromosomes.
It's what my DD had and we had to medically terminate at 16 weeks due to its incompatibility with life.
