Four years ago when my ex was meant to have DD for the holidays he let his sister and SIL watch my DD, being summer they spent the day swimming in the pool.
Both Aunties where busy down the shallow end playing with their own children when they let DD, without any floaty devices, go down the deep end simply holding onto the edge, she got there and her hands slipped and she went under.
Oblivious to her under the water her 12 year old cousin jumped in and pulled her up. I almost lost my DD that day.
For years she would not even go near water without having a death grip on someone, my little girl who was once such a water baby had the biggest phobia I had ever seen, her dad constantly told her what a baby she was for being scared and even the thought of lessons scared her.
2 years ago she finally let me enrol her in lessons, and today, she is competing in her first swimming carnival.
I'm so proud of how far she had come I could cry! Watching her warm up, doing handstands under water, diving over and under the lane ropes. She amazes me.
Sorry no point at all to this post I just want to tell the world how proud I am of my awesome trooper! I couldn't care less if she loses every comp, just seeing her excitement at competing is the best feeling in the world!
So, go DD!!!!
