Default How to explain that they only have one daddy?

My kids have recently started sleeping over my house with my new partner there as well. We were all mucking around last night and my son started calling him daddy. I don't know if he just got caught up in the moment because he was being tickled but how do I talk about that with him. The twins are 4.

Do you want them to call/know him as Daddy?

Is their birth father involved with them?

No I don't want him to be known as daddy. And yes their birth father has primary care of them ATM.

We're in the same boat. Often the boys will slip up and call dp dad and I hear from my ex the boys slip up and call him dps name. When my ex and I split they sometimes called me dad and he got mum. They still do. Their kids, they get caught up in the excitment of what their saying or doing and it happens. My youngest is 4 and the oldest is 8 and both know without me having to say anything who their dad is. I do gently correct them sometimes if they slip a few times in short periods of time and just say 'dps name not dad sweetie' but I wouldn't worry too much about it. As I said, their kids.

I forgot to add that they slip up the most after care changeovers eg. Coming back to our house from their dad's = dp and I get called dad a lot for the first day or so. And vice versa. They get used to saying dad while their with their dad I guess.
