Good experiences on the whole. Antenatal appointments are a bit of a bore with loooong wait times. Midwives excellent on the whole. Be weary of a few
The hospital itself is a bit prehistoric. My mum had all three of us there in the 80s and it's pretty much the same as it was then.

Next birth I'm going to look into a birthing centre or a homebirth. But it's not predominantly about Sandringham. For a hospital birth it was probably most of what it should have been.

    HTH

PS which suburb do you live in?

I hope you're finding it better than where you were before.

You got me thinking about sandy and I realised I left of a very important aspect of navigating yourself around there:

If you don't want to be ignored and/or treated like a little child, then you better apply some charm to the reception staff. They are 'very busy and important'

    Lol!

My initial appointment the midwives actually listened to me talk to them about my emotional health which was great seeing as emotional/mental aspects were completely ignored at the last place I went to so yes going well so far there!

About the reception staff - there was a young girl working when I went and she was quite nice maybe I haven't seen the others yet though lol don't worry, I've spent a lot of time in hospital/doctors both as a patient and working so I know sometimes it can take a certain way with people.. usually when they discover that I'm a nurse they don't mess around

Has anyone been here recently - especially since October 2013 with the Women's taking over the mat department? I am currently booked in at the Women's but we have moved so have the option to transfer. Sandy would be much closer and I have only had one midwife appointment at parkville so far so wouldn't make too much difference. I am currently seeing some other specialists at the womens though...
