Default Take home pay on $56,000 salary?

Could anyone who earns in the vicinity of this shed some light on what the take home pay each week or fortnight would be after tax?
    Thanks in advance.

Hmm I don't think it's that low. DHs base rate is around that figure so that's around what he gets.

Waterlily appears to be correct, it would be at least $800 p/w.

DP earns $57k/annum and takes home between $1800 and $2000 a fortnight depending on loading rates as well (i.e. public hols, working sundays).

    So yes, around $900/week.

You can use the ATO tax tables to work out how much tax you have to pay (it's what I use to do payroll for my partner's business)
    http://www.ato.gov.au/content/downlo...9N10050512.pdf

A yearly pay of $56,000 works out to $1076 per week before tax. If you look up $1076 on the tax table you'll see on page 7 that your husband would have to pay $204 tax (assuming he is claiming his tax free threshold from this job) which means he would have a take-home pay of $872 a week.

However, if the $56,000 is the pay package, that usually includes superannuation which is 9% of your ordinary earnings- also calculated before tax which means $5040 of that 56,000 would be going to superannuation. In that instance, his take-home pay will be $776 per week.

The result you got from the ATO may be what the take-home pay would be without claiming the tax free threshold from this job because that would account for an extra $2-3k a year.

There is an app called "paycalc" that calculates it.

When I put 56,000 in it said $861 per week after tax... Not sure if it uses old tax rates though.
