Question Present ideas for 16th birthday present?

My niece is turning 16 soon. I was hoping for some ideas for a present.
Only problem is she doesnt really like jewellery. I want it to be something special.
    Any help is appreciated.

Buy here a dress and take her to see a theatre performance. she'll always remember it and she'll feel so grown up.

You can't put a price on the memory of an experience.

I agree with this. Or make a girls night out for her. Organise a dinner for her and friends somewhere, tell them they have to get dressed up. Then get her hair & make up done.

If this isn't what she is into I would make a girls day out for her somewhere she would enjoy. I wasn't into Girly stuff at that age so my mum organised for me and friends to go to skirmish was the best day ever, probably my best birthday celebration I've had

An activity of some kind sounds like a great idea.
I'm a high school teacher, and aside from generally loving music, 16 year olds are all so different.
I never went to proper restaurants as a kid so that's something I would have loved, but if she's interested in sports/performing arts etc those could be great too.

I probably should have mentioned she lives 4 hours away. Will need to be something I can mail.
I do like the idea of driving vouchers.

Or get hersome retro rollerskates or something. you can buy anything online and make her home the delivery address. i think he you make the delivery address different to the billing address they send the receipt to you and the product to her.

What about a magazine subscription, not sure if that is personal enough?? These are some teen ones: http://shop.bigpond.com/Category.asp?CTID=25&SID=202 I got one for my brothers last birthday, it's nice because it reminds them of you every month or how ever often it is delivered.

A photobook of either her baby photos or ask her family to each take a photo of themselves with a sign saying something about the birthday girl or holding something memorable. Ask them to email them to you.
