    Default Clomid & Ovulation

I am currently on my third round of clomid and I have a question about ovulation. Now my story is first cycle 50mg Clomid and I recieved no positive opks at all. So did provera. Second cycle clomid again 50mg, CD16 got a positive opk with the line being darker then the test line. But I still didnt ovulate. So i did provera from CD23. I am now on CD7 of clomid 100mg cycle so half way through taking my tablets and I have not had any side effects like i did the 2 previous 50mg rounds.

Now my question is is it possible that the reason i got the positive opk last cycle (2nd) and not the 1st one because my body tried and failed to release the egg? Which will mean that on the 100mg i will have a better chance of my body actually releasing the egg?

I know this sounds stupid but i am trying to be cautiously optimistic that i may achieve ovulation this cycle.

    Hi Raspberrytilly,

I can't exactly answer your question, but I can let you know your not alone with the confusion about opk positives with PCOS!

Last cycle was the first for me on 50mg clomid. I was OPKing and 2 came up positive. After my 21 day blood test however my Gyno said there was no indication of ovulation. I too was very confused, but I have been told that the hormones in the medication may play havic with the tests?

I do however like your theory about the body trying but failing to release the egg, becasue if it's correct then we are both in for a better chance this cycle! I took Privolut to induce my period this time (finaly came on day 51 I think) and up'd the anty for clomid to 100mg also.

    Best wishes to you.

I'd recommend you speak to your fertility specialist as they can track all of this and know exactly what's happening.

After a couple of unsuccessful rounds of Clomid (and discovering a short luteal phase), I continued with the Clomid but added in a trigger shot for ovulation to occur.
I would see the FS around day 10 and she would look to see how many eggs were forming and how big it (they!) were. If it was still small, I'd go back a couple of days later and she would look and measure again. From this she could estimate when the egg would be the right size to be released and that was the day I would trigger (which meant that day and the following 2 days were BD days). We could also see how many eggs there were, so some months we had a higher chance of twins than others. The month I fell pregnant (after 6 rounds of clomid and 2 rounds of FSH injections) there was only one

    Good luck!!
