I voted weekday. As much as I would love aweekend with partner's get-together we have already got the first three Dec week-ends booked! Not both days of the second w/e though. Also, would the secret santa be a bit like, if you have two children, bring two gifts: if you have three, bring three etc...

Yes i think that works best, and uni-sex gifts also

If not unisex gifts as they can be harder.. it might be an idea to wrap them with a pink or blue ribbon

    Hi all
We would love to come I have voted weekend and dh to come!!
I think if we all bought the gifts to match the sex of our child, it would be the same girl and boy, IYKWIM.. So say I have boy and a girl I buy a boy gift and a girl gift, as then we can mix them but there would be the right amount of boy and girl gifts for everyone...

Great idea, I love the secret Santa idea too

Weekends are probably better though anyday is ok too.

I don't mind if Grant's there or not if its a weekday he'd be at work anyway and he plays cricket all day Saturday so on Sunday all he wants to do is stay home. but I guess we'll see what happens.

I really like the idea of a BBQ in a park. Is there somewhere that has one of those big gazebo areas with some tables etc? Or is there a beach with that sort of set-up? what about around St Kilda area?
Also, somebody's partner has to dress up as santa lol.
Sounds good, will keep an eye on the thread for dates and location etc.

FIL has a santa suit.... so I guess I'll have to dob in DP as Santa.

As far as the secret santa thing goes, we need to get a list of kids coming, with their ages, and draw names from a hat. So if you've got three kids coming, then you buy three pressies, one kid, one pressie. That way we get age appropriate gifts, and every child gets a gift, say a $5 or $10 limit.

(Trace, I'm happy to help you with this if you like. I did this on another forum.)
