I agree, even if you've managed it as best you could, you should keep away on the off chance that someone is more susceptible than the average person.

And when my uncle had shingles we were told not to visit him as well.

My boss had suspected shingles a few years ago when a colleague was pregnant. My pregnant colleague had to go straight to the ER and not come back to work until the boss had confirmation it wasn't shingles.

Regardless of the level of risk, I would never expose a pregnant woman to the stress of being exposed to something like that.

I worked in aged care for a long time. I came in contact with shingles
All the time. Even in two pregnancies. You can't catch it, or chickenpox from it, unless you come in contact with the blisters. Furthermore, shingles can hang around for literally months!

Shingles will spread like genital herpes or cold sores. You need to come in contact with them or the fluid

Just to clarify I did NOT PANIC. Those people who are suggesting I was causing a panic you had no idea what was going on. I told this woman that she should be okay because it's not airborne or anything.. just to be careful and not touch her. Regardless.. she has a virus that can be dangerous to certain types of people that attend playgroup and should not have been there.

I disagree. If its spreads like herpes than she has every right to be there.

I don't understand? If she has had shingles 4 times, that means she has already had chickenpox??

I has chicken pox twice as a kid one small dose, then a full blown bed ridden dose.

Since then shingles have popped up when I'm overly stressed/run down.. It's horrible. Doctors can't really explain why I get them so often or how I managed to get chicken pox twice either. My body hates me haha

Same. I had chicken pox twice as a kid then I got them again and the doctor called them shingles as I was an adult at the time.

You can get chicken pox anywhere on your body, I remember as a kid with my first dose the doctor said I even had them inside my mouth and down the back of my throat. I have little scar dents on my scalp under my hair from where I had chicken pox and when I get cold you can see all the little circle shaped scars all over my body from them.
