I knew my dates but I'd had a miscarriage previously and was terrified of it happening again. The dating/viability scan was the best thing ever, that heartbeat was such a relief.

Because I'd had a previous 12 week scan which was a live fetus in a fallopian tube which all needed to be removed. On Doctors advise I now get dating scans to check everything is A OK.

I was pretty sure of my dates but because I had such a long cycle the dr wanted me to have a dating scan to verify those dates because LMP dates wouldn't have been right

I only had one with my third. The first two I was so sure of my dates and I was the third time too but he was as surprise and the idea of him being twins was terrifying me so it was nice knowing there was just one and it helped me get a little more excited about the pregnancy.

This time around i had a dating scan because i reallly had no idea how pregnant i was. Also i have a history of m/c so having that reassurance that everything is okay is important to me.

With first bub i wanted to see it, i ended up having 3 scans to confirm the pregnancy, lucky i did as it prepared me a) for possible bleeding and b) a potential miscarriage.

With ds i had a scan at 9 weeks as i had a 'history' of miscarriage.

I will always ask for an early scan to see bub

We had one at 7 weeks so the fertility specialist could 'close our file' if all was good. Thankfully it was and we just went to gp from then on.

First pregnancy - I have long cycles and had no idea when we conceived. turned out we had a missed miscarriage.

second pregnancy, because on the missed miscarriage we only had one and we were 5w6d, had a heartbeat. next scan was the nuchal.
